Standards Evaluation and Monitoring Unit (SEMU)

SEMU is also an internal, universal division that monitors and evaluates the workings within the Community Safety Department and its sub-divisions. They also handle any internal investigations. It does not provide any service to the community.

The Community Safety Operational Administration Division is responsible to manage and oversee the rendering of Community Safety Operational Administration related services in an effective, efficient and economical manner in order to ensure generic and specialised support to all other functional areas within the Community Safety Department. The Division works in close cooperation with the Shared Services Department for rendering of HR, Finance, IT, Fleet Management and Supply Chain Services. The Division is further responsible for Training, Licensing Services, Transgression Administration, Office and Management Administration Support and Specialized Logistical Support.

Support functions are mainly focussed on the three operational services divisions for Metro Police Services and Fire Brigade Services and the Disaster Management Centre. These support functions are mainly rendered on a centralised basis at the operational services divisions. Licensing services are rendered at various offices throughout Tshwane, enabling the Department to adhere to Batho Pele principles.
