Mamelodi flood victims received aid

The City of Tshwane’s Eastern Region facilitated aid for more than 300 flood victims in Mamelodi from various donors.  Residents from Mamelodi East and especially residents staying in wards 10 and 17 were badly affected during the mid January rainstorms.

The following companies and individuals donated aid in the form of food, clothing and hygiene packs:

SAB, ABSA, SA Red Cross, Local business man – Mr Ngwenya Sibusiso, Gift of the Givers, Al Imdaad Foundation, and Standard Bank.

The city’s Disaster Management team and SAPS also taught residents how to safeguard themselves against the effects of flooding and what to do in a crisis situation.

The regional director of the Eastern Region, Ms Kgomotso Mohlala says the City of Tshwane is grateful to the business sector and community organisations for assisting the city to provide much needed relief to these flood victims.
