Opening of New Supplier Facilities in Silverton, 1 Feb 2011

Gauteng MEC for Economic Development Qedani Mahlangu (left) joins Executive Mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa (centre) and President and CEO of Ford, Jeff Nemeth (right), in unveiling the plaque of the new supplier facilities in Silverton on 1 February.

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa based in the City of Tshwane, Silverton, recently announced a multi-billion rand investment to build the next generation pick-up truck in South Africa. Aligned to the national, provincial and local objectives of government, Ford will be significantly altering the manufacturing scale, improving local content, supporting job creation, building skills and expanding broad based black economic empowerment, Ford has through this strategic investment materially altered its manufacturing footprint in Gauteng and greatly enhances our global impact as an emerging world class export source.
