Tshwane’s first woman Assistant Chief Fire Officer

The Tshwane Emergency Services Department has appointed its first woman in the position as Assistant Chief Fire Officer in the Fire Operational Section on 1 February.

Ms Cynthia Maluleke started her career in the service in 1998, and studied her B-tech diploma in fire technology at Tshwane University of Technology. She successfully passed her diploma in 2008 and was appointed as a station commander. She applied for a position as Assistant Chief Fire Officer in the fire section and was the successful candidate to be appointed.

Ms Maluleke says she is very proud of this achievement and will serve the City to the best of her ability.  She wants to encourage other women to believe in their abilities and to set higher goals for themselves.

The Fire Brigade Section is very proud to have their first woman in a senior management position, and believes that she will contribute greatly as a senior member of the city’s Emergency Services.
