In
its latest effort to improve service delivery the Municipality opened
a new contact centre in Mabopane. This centre will strengthen the
Municipality's presence in the northern areas of Tshwane and ensure
that residents can easily contact the Municipality to get assistance
and information.
The Executive Mayor, Dr Gwen Ramokgopa, visited Mabopane to open
the new centre. She, and everyone present, was welcomed by MMC Kekana
before she was invited to address the meeting. The Mayor outlined
the work done so far during the 100-day programme to boost service
delivery. She also assured residents that the Municipality was continually
working to improve their quality of life.
Dr Ramokgopa highlighted those programmes that focused on achieving
shared economic growth. They included efforts by the Municipality
in terms of its procurement power to help grow and develop small
businesses – especially those that comply with broad-based
black economic empowerment principles.
The contact centre in Mabopane, although small, will open up channels
of communication between the Municipality and the residents. The
Executive Mayor spoke in depth about the various programmes the
Municipality had already put in place, and also gave residents a
chance to ask questions, which she answered. She encouraged them
to also attend the imbizo where their questions would be attended
to more thoroughly. Dr Ramokgopa then proceeded to formally open
the new contact centre.
