Use public transport where you would normally drive. Come on, let's give our lovely planet a break from heat. Car-free Day is a national campaign aimed at promoting the use of public transport, high-occupancy vehicles and non-motorised transport.
In supporting this wonderful initiative the City of Tshwane will create a car-free zone in Hatfield on 20 and 27 October 2017 from 05:30 to 17:30. On these days, no privately owned vehicles will be allowed to drive in Burnett Street between Festival and Grosvenor Street.
Only essential vehicles and City of Tshwane buses will be allowed to use this portion of the road; otherwise the space will be a safe haven for all pedestrians and cyclists.
Other car-free alternatives in Tshwane include Tshwane Bus Services, A Re Yeng, Gautrain, Metrorail and the taxi industry.
