The City of Tshwane is ready to tackle poverty and bring real change to the lives of its residents though the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). From January 2018, the City plans to employ 23 000 people in the EPWP programme. More than 120 000 residents have been registered on the new EPWP database, which will ensure fair and equitable recruitment for EPWP work opportunities.
The City of Tshwane is pleased with the numbers that were obtained during the week-long registration period. This EPWP recruitment policy framework will ensure that the City employs workers on a temporary or contract basis with the goal of transferring skills and providing much-needed income at the same time.
The EPWP beneficiaries will be selected through an open and audited lottery-like system.
This random selection will be open to public observation, and such a selection process will also be published in advance in the wards and regions from which the EPWP beneficiaries will be recruited.
