The Tshwane Tourism Association (TTA) hosted its first Tourism Showcase at the CSIR International Convention Centre (CSIR ICC) on Tuesday 23 January 2018.
The event provided a platform for over 200 tourism products from Tshwane, to showcase what the capital city had to offer.
The city of Tshwane is blessed with a variety of tourism attractions very close to one another. It also offers authentic South African experiences in the villages, townships and the inner city, as well as unique attractions where travellers can get an "out of Africa" experience within 60 km of the city centre.
Tshwane is home to most of the government's administrative departments, and the diplomatic hub of Africa, with 134 embassies and high commissions based here, which also increases the attraction of the city as a tourism destination.
Tshwane mayor, Solly Msimanga, said that he was proud of the city's tourism offering, because Tshwane was the only metropolitan city in Africa that had its own airport, and the only city in the world that had all the African animals that worldwide are called the big five. The mayor also encouraged stakeholders to continue to play their role in positioning Tshwane as the destination of choice in the world.
Outside the convention centre, local business people also sold food from fancy mobile kitchens that were designed to attract tourists who wanted to taste South Africa food.
