The new Executive Mayor, Cllr Stevens Mokgalapa, is wasting no time in getting down to business. This week the Executive Mayor kick-started the Accelerated Service Delivery Programme in Region 5 and 7 by inspecting the teams that carry out various projects in the areas.
"I vow to be the service delivery Mayor of Tshwane. Most of my time and focus will be spent on speeding up the delivery of services in the city. Many of our communities still suffer from years of neglect prior to 2016. We need to do everything in our power to address this," said Cllr Mokgalapa.
The Accelerated Service Delivery Programme is an oversight intervention to monitor and evaluate the progress of service delivery projects within Tshwane's seven regions, and to ensure high-quality service delivery to all residents.
The key issues attended to were cleaning cemeteries, cutting grass, repairing potholes, graveling roads, doing maintenance at community centres and fixing street lights.
The Executive Mayor urged communities to work in the spirit of "Mošomo o tšhaba diatla" ("Work is progressing").
The Executive Mayor will visit all the regions in the next few weeks.
