On Saturday, 2 March 2019, the Executive Mayor, Cllr Stevens Mokgalapa, took the Tswelopele Clean-up Campaign to Bronkhorstspruit in Region 7, as the City continues on its mission to encourage residents to keep their environment clean.
Tswelopele is a mayoral initiative focused on encouraging volunteerism and promoting environmental care. The aim of the campaign is to inspire communities and businesses to take charge of their natural environment. It also aims to encourage participants to focus on separating waste so that more work is done towards recycling and overall environmental awareness.
The City of Tshwane acts as a point of contact for communities who want to drive initiatives aimed at cleaning up their local areas, and therefore Cllr Mokgalapa will be taking the campaign to all the other regions of the City, setting aside every first Saturday of the month for this purpose.
After the past Saturday's campaign, the Executive Mayor, together with his MMCs, held a meeting with the community of Bronkhorstspruit on a number of community issues and concerns that required their attention.
