The Union Buildings will be a hub of activity this Saturday, 30 November 2019, when the I am Tshwane Jacaranda Festival will make its first appearance on the City's events calendar.
This festival will be held at the Union Buildings triangle (cnr Zeederberg and Madiba Street) on the same day as the Diplomatic Fun Fair organised by the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO). The Diplomatic Fun Fair has been hosted annually since 2006 and serves as a platform for South African citizens to learn about the countries with which South Africa maintains economic, political and cultural relations.
The City joined forces with DIRCO to ensure a great experience for attendees of both events by showcasing local and international arts and culture, crafts, music, fashion and food. It is expected that 60 embassies will partake in the Diplomatic Fun Fair.
A key highlight of the I am Tshwane Jacaranda Festival will be a proudly Tshwane market with over 60 stalls with food, arts and crafts, and other consumer goods on sale. The day will be family-friendly and filled with entertainment activities, and will provide a platform for attendees to celebrate our diversity. There will be live performances by artists such as Black Motion, Zamo, Encore, Willem Botha and many more.
Entrance is free and festivities will start at 08:00 and end at 22:00.
