    WASTE COLLECTION CHALLENGES RECEIVE ATTENTION

    Thu, May 18, 2017

Currently, the service provider for waste collection is experiencing capacity constraints. The City of Tshwane is continuously engaging with them to improve their capacity to the required level, and to render a full service as expected.

The issue of capacity as well as the disruption of waste collection and disposal have been recurring lately. Following the capacity setback which began on Saturday, 13 May 2017, the City has since received formal assurances from the service provider that their service will be back on track on Saturday, 20 May 2017. This commitment serves as a guarantee that the entire waste management service will be operating normally by the end of this week.

Some of the areas experiencing backlogs are listed below:

    ·         Soshanguve

    ·         Mamelodi

    ·         Pretoria CBD

    ·         Lotus Gardens

    ·         Pretoria West

    ·         Doornpoort

    ·         Hammanskraal

    ·         Temba

    ·         Sinoville

    ·         Montana

    ·         Magalieskruin

    ·         Centurion

Residents are requested to keep their bins at the usual collection point so that they can be emptied.

The City apologises profusely for the repetitive non-collection and/or interruption of waste management services. The Municipality is committed to ensuring that these services improve to the set standard.
