A RE YENG INCREASES BUS FLEET IN MAMELODI

    Mon, Oct 9, 2017

The City of Tshwane is delighted to announce today the decision to increase the number of A Re Yeng buses that have taken over the operations of AutoPax in Mamelodi. This initiative was prompted by service demand in that area. The service was initially supported by 30 buses, and we have now increased the fleet to 45 buses.

The increase in demand is a demonstration that the takeover of the service by the City has been well received by the community and the operations continue to progress reasonably well. The increase in the fleet will neither result in the change of routes nor the bus fares.

The types of buses are as follows:

The City's A Re Yeng Bus Service took over bus operations from AutoPax in Mamelodi with effect from Monday, 2 October 2017. The City of Tshwane agreed in principle to provide efficient and continuous public transport services, as part of its legislative function, particularly in Mamelodi, upon the withdrawal of services by Autopax. Autopax, a state-owned transport entity, had been requested by the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport (GDRT) to step in and provide services to Mamelodi commuters when Putco (Pty) Ltd voluntarily surrendered its contract to GDRT during 2015.
