The City of Tshwane's engineers have successfully completed the repairs to the damaged section of a pipeline that supplies water to Sunnyside and nearby areas. Some of the affected residents started receiving water this morning, however, due to high consumption during peak hours, other areas continued to experience the water outage.
Residents are urged to be prudent when using water as the system has not stabilised yet. Technicians have fully opened the valves and it is expected that water will start filling up the network.
The Utility Services Department is monitoring the network for any unforeseen hiccups such as leakages and/or burst pipes. It cannot be said at this point when the water supply will be fully restored as this is dependent on how quickly the system stabilises.
Water tankers are still deployed in the affected areas to ensure water provision to residents.
Some of the following targeted groups are still affected:
- Sunnyside, Arcadia, Clydesdale as well as south of the Pretoria CBD
- Health facilities (hospitals)
- Old age homes
The City apologises for the inconvenience caused by this unplanned interruption.
