The Tshwane Convention Bureau was among the recipients of the 2015 Guild Awards for unbroken service in participating at Meetings Africa. This recognition is of great significance for the bureau, as it indicates Tshwane’s seriousness about the value of business events.
The recipients were recognised for their support and loyalty, which contributed to the success of Meetings Africa over the past ten years.
The following criteria were used to select the deserving companies and organisations:
- Unbroken service for a minimum of five years
- Growth in stand size
- High volume and usage of pre-scheduled appointments
In recent years, the global meetings industry has begun to recognise Africa as a sought-after destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and events. These meetings, incentives, conferences and events are major contributors to the economy, and the ROI derived from hosting business events is enormous.
Meetings Africa showcases Africa’s diverse offering of services and products where African associations and African meetings industry professionals can partner to help transform our continent. The show is a platform to engage with international and local hosted buyers with the hope of sealing business deals.
Another exciting development is the interest of the incentive buyers in Tshwane products. This led to 60 hosted international buyers choosing Tshwane for a familiarisation trip later this month. This is indeed great news for the bureau, as it shows that our sales efforts are not in vain.
The Tshwane Convention and Visitors Services Bureau is a strategic unit of the City of Tshwane. It was established to provide support and strategic advice to all meetings, incentives and event planners who are considering hosting their events in Tshwane. It is also responsible for raising the profile of Tshwane as a premier MICE destination through increased sales efforts and bidding to host international conferences in Tshwane.
