This programme focuses on developing the skills that
entrepreneurs need to make their contribution to the economy. The following
services and programmes supplement this programme:
• Micro MBA Training Programme
This training programme targets mostly young people
at the entry level of entrepreneurial activity.
What does the training entail?
The training is competency-based and learner-driven and consists of
these eight modules:
- Market investigation
- Using a calculator for business
- Buying
- Costing and pricing
- Selling
- Writing a business plan
- Money management
- Stock control
Who is targeted?
The course is designed for traders, manufacturers and service providers
and is presented in English, Afrikaans, Northern Sotho, Tswana, Xhosa
and Zulu.
The programme is revised annually and the number of
participants depends on the budget available.

• Start-up support service
This service is for aspiring entrepreneurs, helping
them to navigate the basic obstacles to entering the entrepreneurial
world.
What does the service entail?
The service package includes:
- At least six hours of business advice and support
- Supervision during the drafting of a business plan
- Business counselling
- Mentorship services

• Financial management training
Research shows that one of the critical reasons why
South Africa's Total Entrepreneurial Activity Index is so low is the
country's low skills levels. Financial management skills are cited as
a key area that is contributing to the lack of confidence.
What does the training entail?
The training is conducted over two full days and covers the following:
- Definition of terms and financial analysis
- Uses of money
- Sources of money
- The trading cycle and its importance
- Working capital and its uses
- Cash flow and cash flow forecasting
- Analysis of cash flow and decisions on when to buy
- Profit and profit forecasting
- Debtors control
- Creditors control
- Treatment of loans, loan repayment and interest in financial statements
- Preparation of budgets
- Overview of business insurance
- Record-keeping to meet SARS and CIPRO requirements
