This selection includes the works of well known 20th century international artists such as Pablo Picasso and Rene Magritte. Back to topCONTEMPORARY SOUTH AFRICAN GRAPHICS Until 30 November 2007 - East Gallery This display of contemporary South African Graphics illustrates the post-modernist shift of attention from the art object to the art idea. The works include graphics executed at the end of the 20th century and some from this century. Artists are inventing a new language of communication in which the new media, sophisticated technology and social context play important roles. These works are expressions of the nature of post-modern artworks - they are often merely the agents that set in motion affinities, ideas and emotions within the spectator. Back to top |
