Fountains Recreation Resort
Christina de Witt Avenue, Groenkloof

The well-known Fountains needs no introduction. Very few people realise that this recreational site was proclaimed as a nature reserve by President Paul Kruger on 1 February 1895. The Fountains is the oldest nature reserve on the African continent.

In the region of the two natural springs, which supply water to Tshwane residents, are various recreational facilities, such as a well-equipped caravan park. In the shade of large witstinkhout trees, alongside the Apies River and close to the swimming pool, shelters (dance floors), children's play park and the historical ruins of the house of Lucas Cornelius Bronkhorst, the braai facilities are located. The Denneboom Kiosk and the Fountains Deck Pub and Grill are within walking distance of this site.

To round off your day of fun, take a ride on the miniature train through the valley.

For more information on the miniature train, please click here.
