    The City of Tshwane’s licensing centres have been experiencing an unprecedented increase in volumes of people who apply for either driver’s licences or professional permits.

The Executive Mayor is the first citizen of the City of Tshwane and has the overall political responsibility for the City of Tshwane. The Executive Mayor represents the face of the city and is responsible for managing all its affairs. This is a mammoth task in a city that accommodates over 2,2 million people.

Therefore a Mayoral Committee was set up to assist the Executive Mayor.

Acting as a local cabinet, the Mayoral Committee is made up of 11 members, including the Executive Mayor, who is also its chairperson.

The Executive Mayor and the Mayoral Committee have a political responsibility for sound governance and effective service delivery. They are further responsible for promotion of economic growth and development, management of the city’s physical development and promotion of the well-being of the community at large.

Their focus is also on safety and security, preservation of the city’s natural and cultural resources and the strengthening of the city’s national status as a capital.​
