    The City of Tshwane’s licensing centres have been experiencing an unprecedented increase in volumes of people who apply for either driver’s licences or professional permits.

WASTE MANAGEMENT DIVISION

The division is responsible for investigating and putting in place progressive alternatives to waste disposal which, among others, includes waste minimization initiatives and alternative waste treatment facilities. By virtue of its location in central office, the division also develops: policies, strategies, guidelines and by-laws that are geared towards waste management. As part of the divisional obligations, the division offers support to regions on waste management operations as well as building capital assets.

Strategic objectives to achieve corporate targets set in the IDP

  • Provide sustainable service infrastructure and human settlement management
  • Ensure sustainable, safer cities and integrated social development
  • Improved financial sustainability

The Division has 4 sections and each section has its own subsections, these are:

  • Waste Removal: Policy, Standards & Regional Support;
  • Program Implementation;
  • Waste Separation & Minimization and
  • Landfill & Transfer station management
