Jacobus and Cornelia Erasmus owned a dairy farm here in the early 1800s. Carel Erasmus bought the farm in the 1877 and built a three-roomed house, which is the chapel today. In 1903, his son-in-law, Johan Marneweck, built his house on the land; this has since been converted into the Rademeyers restaurant. Moreleta Kloof Nature Area has an abundance of bird life as well as game such as springbok, blesbok, impala and zebra.
