Where: Henry Preiss Hall, Pretoria Art Museum
Cnr Francis Baard and Wessels Street, Arcadia Park, Arcadia
The Corobrik Collection housed at the Pretoria Art Museum is one of the most comprehensive collections of contemporary ceramics in the country. It charts the growth and development of studio ceramics in South Africa since 1972, when Ceramics Southern Africa was founded.
The collection, sponsored by Corobrik, showcases the diversity of ceramics produced in South Africa and also shows the changes in style and expression of the medium over the years. From the early Anglo-Oriental work to the explosion of colour and delicate porcelain, sculpture and work by some of the country's best traditional potters as well as much more will be on view.
While some pieces from the collection are always exhibited prominently at the entrance to the museum, in October the entire collection will be exhibited. This offers a wonderful opportunity to view all the works in a museum/gallery setting with enough space for each piece to be shown properly.
The exhibition will be opened by Musa Shagase, Marketing and Commercial Director of Corobrik, on Sunday, 23 October at 11:00. The exhibition will close on Sunday, 5 February 2017.
