In the public domain: shifting boundaries between the private and the public is an exhibition by lecturers of the University of Pretoria.
The participating artists are: Natalie Fossey, Johan Thom, Nicola Grobler, Avi Sooful, Sakie Seoka, Raimi Gbadamosi, Vusi Beauchamp, Alan Lang, Diane Victor, Frikkie Eckstein, Usha Seejarum, Berco Wisenach, Sarel Petrus, Guy du Toit, Carl Jeppe, Daniel Malherbe, Ariana van Heerden, Carla Crafford and Magdel van Rooyen.
The notion of shifting boundaries as thematic interpretation is a stimulus for debate, as this exhibition accesses individual artists' interpretations of contemporary society. The exhibition further links the public site (Pretoria Art Museum) and the private space (the University of Pretoria) so that the local communities within which both institutions reside are not alienated. This exhibition generates many layered and textured ways of thinking within the diverse practice on show.
