Rand Water will carry out two-phased annual maintenance of its infrastructure at the Palmiet, Zuikerbosch and Mapleton Systems to improve its network’s reliability and efficiency ahead of the start of the winter season. The first phase of this essential work will take place from Friday, 29 May 2026, to Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
The planned maintenance work, according to the water utility, will coincide with Eskom’s planned critical maintenance activities which will enhance operational flexibility across key Rand Water systems to reduce the risk of plant trips and equipment failures.
During this five-day maintenance period, Rand water will switch off some of its pumps and this will result in water supply interruptions. The maintenance work is perfectly timed to be carried out just before the start of the winter season, which is traditionally a low-water-demand period.
