On Saturday, 11 July 2026, the City of Tshwane will shut down the power supply to Themba Water Treatment Plant in order to carry out essential transformer maintenance.
Unfortunately, operations will be interrupted on this day as the plant uses electricity to pump water.
This inevitable shutdown will last for 12 hours, from 06:00 until 18:00.
The following areas will be affected:
- Chris Hani
- Hammanskraal West
- Kanana
- Leboneng
- Renstown
- Rockville
- Sekampaneng
- Unit 5 and 7
- Unit D
The City remains committed to providing reliable water services and appreciates the cooperation and understanding of customers while this essential work is carried out.
Residents are encouraged to use water sparingly during this period and to adopt the following water-saving measures:
- Do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00.
- Do not wash vehicles using hosepipes.
- Do not fill swimming pools.
- Continue using grey water, where possible, for watering gardens and flushing toilets.
- Report water leaks, burst pipes and any incidents of water wastage to the City.
- Install water-saving devices where possible.
