Stay safe: Winter is just around the corner and COVID-19 is still here

The winter season is upon us and it is time to buckle down and beat viruses. We cannot relax, because COVID-19 is still around. We all have a role to play and we need to find ways to stay safe.

A change of season can impact our health, so we must be ready and share knowledge on how to do so to reduce the number of infections.

Here are ways to prevent us from becoming ill or spreading illnesses:

  1. If you are feeling sick, stay away from other people or stay home. Do not shake hands or touch others, remember to wear your mask, wash or sanitise your hands regularly, and visit your nearest clinic or doctor for a COVID-19 test.
  2. Please remember to keep warm, drink plenty of fluids, wash your hands regularly and avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. If you suspect that you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, please visit your nearest clinic or doctor for a test.
  3. People who are experiencing ill health should take precautionary steps this season by wearing masks in public, sanitising or washing hands regularly, staying away from people who have flu-like symptoms or opting to work from home per employer advice.
  4. COVID-19 affects people in different ways. Most infected people will develop mild to moderate illness and recover without hospitalisation.
  5. COVID-19 vaccines (including booster doses) are available at all primary health facilities.
