In my capacity as MMC for Community Safety, I would like to give my full support to the directive issued by the acting Chief of Police, Basil Nkhwashu. The directive is aimed at empowering the public to fight possible corruption by Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) officers. It also seeks to make our officers aware of the importance of always conducting themselves ethically, being fair and respecting the rights of others.
Let me be clear about what this directive means for the public:
- You have the right, and are in fact encouraged, to ask TMPD officers for their appointment certificates (a card identifying them as a police officer).
- You have the right, and are in fact encouraged, to record your encounter with TMPD officials. This includes videos and pictures of the officers, their appointment certificates and their vehicles.
Considering the number of complaints the City has been receiving with regard to extortion, corruption and other cases of misconduct by TMPD officers, this directive is long overdue. I welcome this initiative by the acting Chief and will continue to support him in implementing any measures to address this scourge.
If you are ever a victim of these terrible acts by TMPD officials, please do the following:
- Open a criminal case at the nearest police station.
- Report the matter to the TMPD Integrity Unit on 083 657 2998 to enable an internal investigation into the conduct.
- Report the matter to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) at gauteng@ipid.gov.za.
I want to thank the Executive Mayor, Cllr Cilliers Brink, for his support to have this directive issued to empower our residents while cleaning up our metro police. I also want to remind the public to remain respectful in their encounters with law enforcement. Many good officers are still trying to make a difference out there.
I’m in a taxi from Centurion R21 Business corporate Park to Johannesburg, we were driver has more more than 7 passenger overload.this happens everyday may we please kindly get someone to investigate this matter taxi association won’t help

I called the city of tshwane around 01h27 about very loud noise. Was given reference number 685 by constable busithi ( name was no clear due to the noise next door). She said as soon as they get a van they’ll attend to my complaint. The noise went on all night and around 06h00 again I called. The same constable answered saying she remembers my call but they can not attend to my case as all the vehicles are out because of a strike. She then said next time. When I asked when is next time she dropped the call.
I wrote an email to ehonestop@tshwane.gov.za but still no response. Nothing. There seems to be no care whatsoever about our complaints. How can all vehicles be out on strike?
Hy there was misconduct by tshwane metro police department officer since when metro police stop a cash in transit vehicle full of cash and gave a ticket is very clear that corruption in South Africa will never end you can’t give cit vehicle a ticket to drive in a bus lane because there is a lot of traffic how many innocent life will get hurt if that vehicle stick on a traffic our police they don’t protect the community of South Africa they like show of instant of protect the community of South Africa the incident happened at boom next to zoo tshwane must take action against that white guy.
Kindly note that I was interested in applying for the position as a Traffic officer, the Learnership and I came across these two guys Letho Nzima Nizimande that wanted a bride of which I paid R1500, the guy that says his HR (Lebo) said I can’t send it to his account because his account is being monitored I should send it to the other guys account of which I did.
They sounded very promising explained the processes, the HR guy requested for my documents, I sent it he said my application is approved but when I asked when will the program start they advised early March 2024 calls will be going out
Only to find out I’ve been scammed, none of them seem to responding or answer their phones.
I do have proof of the payment and who they are when the payment was made and to whose account.
Would like to pass to my friends that travel a lot and fir myself being a pensioner
Well done to our municipality that cares for us
