The City of Tshwane is pleased by the success of the 69th Association of Municipal Electricity Utilities (AMEU) Convention, which was hosted by the City of Tshwane from 1 to 4 October 2023 at the CSIR International Convention Centre.
The AMEU is an association of electricity distribution utilities and commercial companies providing goods and services to the electricity distribution sector in Southern Africa.
The 2023 AMEU Convention was held under the theme, Confronting South Africa’s Electricity Crisis in the context of a Balanced Just Energy Transition (BJET).
This year’s convention was special to the City of Tshwane as the acting Group Head: Energy and Electricity, Mr Tom Mutshidza, was elected as AMEU President.
The AMEU attracts different stakeholders such as municipal electricity utilities, government departments, parastatals and commercial, academic and other organisations that have a direct interest in the electricity supply industry.
These meetings serve as the backbone of an industry association, and the AMEU ensures that its meetings are always industry relevant and developmental for participants.
The uniqueness of the AMEU is that it allows municipal electrical engineers to oversee their respective utilities and the elected councillors play an active role in the affairs of the organisations.
The City of Tshwane would like to congratulate Mr Tom Mutshidza on his election as AMEU President. We wish him well during his reign!
