The Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Cllr Nasiphi Moya, outlined her 100-day plan on Wednesday, 30 October 2024, to improve the City’s finances, revitalise the economy and prioritise service delivery. She revealed six priorities that will anchor her executive’s first 100 days in office – a plan she said will enable a decisive turnaround for the City.
The 100-day Action Plan will serve as a foundation for a decisive turnaround by the end of January 2025 and is aimed at mastering the basics of service delivery so that quality services are provided equitably to all residents of Tshwane.
The plan of action has been labelled Re a Spana, which means “we are working”.
The six priorities are as follows:
- Financial stability
- Economic revitalisation
- Infrastructure development with a focus on energy and water infrastructure
- Equitable basic service delivery and maintaining a clean city
- By-law enforcement and inner-city rejuvenation
- Community engagement and taking government to the people
The Executive Mayor stated that the goal was to implement robust project management strategies so that by the end of the financial year, 100% of the capital budget was spent and no grant funding should be returned due to underexpenditure.
“Many of the city’s residents feel neglected and disengaged from the work of government, having lost faith in our willingness and ability to improve the conditions in which they live,” she said. Cllr Moya added that the City also wants to prioritise community engagement and take government to the people.
