Residents in the Eersterust Reservoir supply area are informed about the rescheduled upgrading work on the bulk water system which will take place on 25 and 26 June 2025. The work to be carried out by the technical team entails making repairs on a leaking pressure-reducing valve (PRV) chamber, replacing the aged pipeline and installing an altitude valve to regulate water levels and flow to the reservoir.
The upgrading work was initially scheduled to take place on 6 and 7 May 2025, but it was then postponed to 13 and 14 May 2025, which was also cancelled. On both occasions, the City was compelled to cancel due to the challenges experienced with the contractor pertaining to the measurements of the fittings to be installed as well as the failed quality inspection in accordance with the City of Tshwane’s standards on the coating material of the fittings.
This inevitable work, which will help with water loss and suitable control of the reservoir, will commence at 07:00 on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, and will take 48 hours to conclude.
The following areas will be affected:
- Derdepoort 326-JR
- Derdepoort Park Ext 2
- Despatch
- Eersterust
- Eersterust Ext 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6
- Hartebeespoort 328-JR
- Jan Niemand Park
- Mamelodi Ext 13
- Silvertondale
- Silvertondale Ext 1 and 2
- Waltloo
The City will try to minimise the impact of the water supply interruption. However, residents are urged to store enough water for household purposes during this period of interruption. Furthermore, water tankers will be on standby to service the affected areas.
The City of Tshwane apologises for the inconvenience caused by the rescheduled work mentioned above.
