The Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Cllr Nasiphi Moya, joined by the MMC for Community Safety, Ald Hannes Coetzee, took time on 20 August 2025 to thank all personnel who worked on delivering a successful Urban20 (U20) Sherpa Meeting and African Mayors Assembly in June 2025.
The team comprises U20 technical task team and operational members from various departments who worked in coordination to ensure delegate safety, market Tshwane to the international community and deliver an all-round epic conference experience.
In her address, the Executive Mayor expressed her appreciation for the outstanding staging of the eighth cycle of the U20 – a first for African cities. “We are truly grateful to the entire team for the meticulous planning and execution of this international gathering. This was a defining moment for our capital city and each of you played a vital role towards the event’s success,” she said.
The Executive Mayor and MMC handed out certificates to team members in recognition of their role in the event.
The U20 gathering produced a draft communique which will be used to shape recommendations for the upcoming G20.
