Customers who are supplied by the Zithobeni Tower Zone are strongly urged to reduce their consumption levels, which are excessively high.
This high consumption behaviour is putting severe strain on the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant, which has so far been running consistently since Tuesday, 3 February 2026, with a production figure of 30 Mℓ per day. This morning, Thursday, 12 February 2026, the Zithobeni Tower, which was sitting above 40% yesterday afternoon, ran empty due to high consumption levels.
The situation has also adversely affected the Bronkhorstspruit/Zithobeni West Reservoir, which remains at a critically low level. Pumping to the Zithobeni Tower will only resume once the Zithobeni West Reservoir has recovered sufficiently to support a sustainable supply.
Meanwhile, technicians will continue to maintain the current 50/50 production split, as this approach is helping to balance the system and has shown positive results.
