    Applications for low-cost housing at Townlands Estate now open

    Applications are now open for residents to apply for low-cost housing at the Townlands Estate. Prospective tenants receiving an income of between R1 500 and R15 000 qualify to apply for these apartments.

    Rentals range from R800 to R4 860 based on the combined household income. Applications close on 1 October 2021.

    The rental units consist of one- and two-bedroom apartments with basic finishes. Tshwane Townlands Estate is located close to places of work, shops, social amenities and public transport at the corner of Es'kia Mphahlele Drive and Struben Street in Marabastad.

    The development proudly features the following:

    • Hot water central heating system
    • Beautiful landscaping with braai areas
    • Tuck shops
    • A biometric access control system
    • CCTV cameras

       

      The nearby Belle Ombre transport hub (railway station, bus depot and taxi rank) serves as the northern gateway into Tshwane and provides linkages to areas such as Mabopane, Soshanguve and Ga-Rankuwa,

      Prospective tenants must –
    • be 18 years or older, employed and be able to pay monthly rent;
    • be a South African citizen with a household income of between R1 500 and R15 000;
    • be married or single with or without dependents or cohabiting with a partner (one application per household);
    • have a clean credit record and not be under debt review;
    • not own property; and
    • not have benefitted from any government housing scheme or subsidy.

    To apply applicants must bring the following:

    • Certified copy of your identity document or proof of permanent residence
    • Certified copy of your partner's identity document
    • Certified copies of birth certificates or identity documents of dependents (children), or an affidavit if the dependent is an extended family member
    • Completed pre-application form
    • Proof of residence
    • Proof of income – latest three months' payslips (for both you and your partner, if applicable)
    • Bank statement for the last three months, and if you are self-employed or in business, six months' bank statements will be required
    • Any proof of additional income or revenue streams (if applicable) as a result of the business (CIPC search will be conducted)

    Applications can be done at Ground Floor, Bothongo Plaza West, 271 Francis Baard Street, Pretoria.

    The pre-screening forms are free of charge and Housing Company Tshwane does not charge any fee or hire any agents to act on its behalf. Please do not pay anyone for application forms.
