Emergencies experienced by residents in Mamelodi and Nellmapius will now be responded to in no time, as the new Mamelodi Fire Station will soon be fully operational.
The construction of Mamelodi Fire Station came about after assessments indicated
the need for an emergency services station in the northern parts of Region 6. The nearest station was more than 15 km away and resulted in extensive delays in response times, especially in the Nellmapius and Mamelodi areas.
With Mamelodi being one of the largest townships in Tshwane, it is surrounded by many informal settlements where flooding and fires often occur. It is therefore important for the City to respond to these instances effectively and timeously.
This new emergency services station will afford the City the opportunity to respond
promptly and without delays to emergency calls.
The station will provide a community-focused fire safety, firefighting and rescue service to prevent loss of life and property losses resulting from any natural or man-made occurrence.
