The City of Tshwane has been informed by the water utility, Rand Water, that the 40 hours planned major water outage in various areas of Region 3 and 4, southwest of the Pretoria CBD has (once again) been postponed until further notice. This postponement follows the recent water limitations that have affected the entire City and impacted maximally on the residents of Regions 1, 3 and 4.
The 40 hours maintenance work by the utility, which was scheduled from 31 August until 2 September 2021, would have entailed repairs to a pipe leak on the H28 and H42 cross.
The City appeals to the residents of Region 3 and 4 who were left without water for the previous 2-3 days until last night when water was restored, to use water sparingly in order to allow the reservoir levels to recover.
Residents should also be mindful that the restoration of water supply is a fragile process as reservoirs have to first recover before the supply network can fill-up to give sufficient pressure to households. This process has to be conducted gradually to avoid unfortunate incidents such as pipe bursts due to the presence of air pressure in the empty pipeline.
We apologise for all the inconvenience experienced as a result of the water outage in various parts of Tshwane.
