Tshwane youth showcase their impressive artwork during the Mercy Youth Art Project Exhibition launch

    Fri, Jun 24, 2022

Earlier today, the City of Tshwane, in partnership with the Mercy Foundation and the AttSaul Arts and Culture Forum, officially launched the Mercy Youth Art Project Exhibition at Tshwane House in the Pretoria CBD.

The project presents 50 different artworks prepared by learners from 23 high schools in Region 3 areas such as Atteridgeville, Saulsville, Lotus Gardens, Pretoria West, Pretoria Central and many other surrounding areas.

The process of producing the artworks started a few months back when we invited various schools to participate in the exhibition. Interested students were required to draw their interpretation of the theme, Tshwane, My City of Hope

The artwork is very impressive and proves that we have a lot of talented young people in the country that do not have the opportunity to express themselves. Therefore, today's art exhibition serves as a platform to inspire and celebrate our talented youth.

It is my hope that we will find more partners to work with us to empower young people in Tshwane.

I would like to thank the MMC for Social Development and Community Services, Cllr Peggy de Bruin, with our stakeholders, AttSaul Arts and Culture Forum and Mercy Foundation. Lastly, I want to salute the young artists who produced the impressive artwork: You all have great potential and I wish you all the success in the world.

The artworks will remain on display at Tshwane House for the next 30 days.
