Why a Bus Rapid Transit Servce?
Frustration over worsening traffic conditions is a problem in metropolitan areas worldwide. Several countries that embraced bus rapid transit (BRT) systems to improve their public transport found that their traffic problems were significantly reduced.
The City of Tshwane recognises that traffic congestion has become a major problem for drivers, particularly during peak hours. At the same time, residents of poor areas depend on public transport to get to work or school. By implementing a cost-effective and efficient public transport system, road safety will be improved and congestion reduced, while residents’ mobility will increase. The City also expects road accidents to decrease, as people will be less likely to rely on private vehicles for transportation.
