TMPD Drug Unit keeps the pressure on drug dealers with another R100 000  drug bust

On Monday, 23 January 2023, members of the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Drug Unit responded to a complaint of illegal activities at a house in Atteridgeville. Upon arrival at the scene,  a 67-year-old female was immediately  arrested for possession and dealing in drugs. The suspect was in possession of crystal meth, nyaope and cat worth an estimated street value of R25 000. The suspect was detained at Atteridgeville Police Station.

Earlier this month, on Friday, 13 January 2023, the same unit arrested three Nigerian nationals aged between 30 and 36 for dealing in and possession of drugs. The suspects were found in possession of crystal meth with an estimated street value of R75 000. The suspects attempted to bribe the officers by offering them R1 000, which was added to the charge sheet. The suspects were detained at Villieria Police Station.

Through these targeted interventions, the TMPD Drug Unit is constantly keeping the pressure on drug dealers. Each arrest provides more information, allowing them to break down these illegal networks brick by brick.

I would like to once again thank the TMPD Drug Unit for their efforts, cleaning our streets and protecting our youth from drugs.

As always, information from the public can be most useful in countering this type of crime. Residents that want to report drug-related crime are therefore encouraged to contact the South African Police Service on 10111 or the TMPD on 012 358 7095 / 7096.
