Region 6 had a population of more than 60 000 people according to the 2011 Census. Region 6 is bordered by the Magaliesberg mountain range to the north, the N1 freeway to the west and the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality to the south. The region includes large parts of the former Kungwini and Nokeng Tsa Taemane regions. Some of the areas that fall under Region 6 include Nellmapius, Mamelodi, Jan Niemand Park, Mahube Valley, Moreletapark, Silver Lakes and Mooikloof.
