Municipal Health Services renders an environmental health service to all communities in Tshwane. Environmental Health Practitioners have a legal mandate to attend to amongst others the outbreaks of communicable disease, vector infestations, food-related illnesses and other health crises.

Residents can contact the Municipal Health Services to enquire and report problems relating to:

• Water Quality
• Food hygiene and safety
• Environmental pollution concerns such as unsafe waste disposal, air quality and noise pollution
• Health surveillance of premises and business operations
• Contagious diseases
• Vector infestations
• Health issues at cemeteries, mortuaries, funeral undertakers and crematoriums
• Chemical hazards

Procedure for complaints:

• Log a complaint at the relevant regional Municipal Health Services Office (i.e. in region where the transgression/ problem is happening)
• You will receive confirmation and a reference number telephonically and/or by email
• The contact details of the Environmental Health Practitioner who will investigate the matter will be communicated to you
• Feedback will be provided within 7 days
