Executive Mayor pleased with the progress of two capital projects in Region 5: Refilwe Manor 10 Mℓ Reservoir and Refilwe Stadium

Yesterday, I conducted an oversight visit to Region 5 in Refilwe near Bronkhorstspruit to inspect the progress being made with our two current capital projects in the region.

The multimillion-rand projects are the upgrade and refurbishment of Refilwe Stadium and the construction of the Refilwe Manor 10 Mℓ Reservoir.

During the oversight visit, I was accompanied by City officials and my colleagues in the Mayoral Committee, Cllr Peggy de Bruin, Cllr Katlego Mathebe and Cllr Kgosietsile Kgosiemang.

I was pleased to note that the upgrade and refurbishment of Refilwe Stadium is 74% complete. Once concluded, the stadium will boost a 3 000 capacity grandstand, a soccer pitch, club house and gym fully equipped with showers.

Once complete, the stadium will add immense value to the community, especially our young people who will finally have a decent sport facility to hone their skills and use their time productively.

Our second capital project in the region was implemented for the supply of clean, potable water and sanitation services to Refilwe residents. I am pleased to report that the Refilwe Manor Reservoir project is progressing well and is at 95% completion.

This project began in 2017 after our previous administration identified the need to construct a 10 Mℓ reservoir to supply the areas in Refilwe Manor Ext 7 and 10 with increased access to water. The reservoir is expected to be commissioned in April this year.

Our multiparty coalition government is committed to prioritising key infrastructure investment and maintenance in order to improve services to all our residents.
