Update on Pyramid Substation in Region 2, Kentron and Rua Vista Substations in Region 4

City of Tshwane technicians from the Energy and Electricity Department, supported by a team from the Regional Operations and Coordination Department, are working tirelessly to restore power to customers who are supplied from Pyramid Substation, particularly the farming communities.

Some of the areas have been without electricity for more than a week following a fire that gutted the temporary Pyramid Substation on Wednesday, 20 September 2023. So far, testing on the 11 kV equipment and the transformer has been successfully completed.

Teams are busy preparing and connecting cables for supply to the affected customers. The expected time of restoration is Friday, 6 October 2023.

In Region 4, power has been restored to all commercial consumers and 80% of Zwartkop residential area following a power outage that was caused by a burnt cable at Kentron Substation. Some components on one panel are still off due to cable faults. The team is busy with the repairs.

Customers who are supplied by Rua Vista Substation are experiencing a power outage after cables were stolen from the substation. Technicians are busy with cable replacement and repairs. The expected time of restoration is this evening at 23:00.

The City apologises for the inconvenience that has been caused by these power outages.
