Over 500 title deeds handed over to beneficiaries in Soshanguve South Ext 4

Cllr Ofentse Madzebatela

MMC for Human Settlements

On behalf of the City of Tshwane, myself, together with the MEC for Human Settlements and Infrastructure Development, Mr Lebogang Maile, handed out 580 title deeds to beneficiaries in Soshanguve South Ext 4 on Friday, 1 March 2024.

Title deeds are usually handed over immediately to beneficiaries as new settlement projects are completed. However, as local government, we face a challenge in cases where settlements were completed many years ago and beneficiaries have changed their contact details or do not reside in Tshwane any more. This creates a problem of being unable to reach the beneficiaries.

The City therefore urges all residents who have not yet claimed their title deeds to come forward and to approach us for more information.

It is critical for beneficiaries to claim their title deeds, as this will assist qualifying beneficiaries to formalise their ownership and provide them with security of tenure.

The City of Tshwane remains committed to positioning our human settlement programmes as catalysts for meaningful economic growth and to help restore dignity to our residents.

My office will continue to work with the Gauteng Provincial Government to unlock opportunities through our human settlement programmes.
