WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION Muckleneuk – 14 April 2024

The water supply interruption that was scheduled for Saturday, 13 April 2024 has been postponed to Sunday, 14 April 2024. The reason for the postponement is due to the Inter-Varsity Sports Event that will be taking place on 13 April 2024 between 07:00 and 20:00 at the Tuks Groenkloof Campus.

The water supply interruption is therefore scheduled for Sunday, 14 April 2024 for eight hours from 08:00 to 16:00 at Erf 514, 832 Justice Mahommed Street, Muckleneuk for the installation of an 80 mm water meter.

The following areas will be affected:

  • Groenkloof
  • Muckleneuk
  • Nieuw Muckleneuk
  • Parts of Brooklyn (William, Mackenzie, Olivier, Nicolson and Marais Street)

Residents are urged to store enough water for household purposes during this time.

The contact information (for internal enquiries only) is as follows:

  • Peter Ngobeni: 012 358 5824
  • After hours: 012 358 2111 or 080 1111 556

Residents are urged to make the following water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle:

  • Do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00.
  • Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes.
  • Do not fill swimming pools.

Residents are urged to keep on using grey water to water gardens and flush toilets. Residents should report water leaks, burst pipes and all incidents where water is wasted. Where possible, water-saving devices should be installed.

Residents should make water conservation part of their everyday lives by making use of the following water-saving tips:

  • Install a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible.
  • Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.
  • Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in the garden.
  • Use a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios.
  • Collect rainwater to reuse in the garden or wash the car.
  • Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation.
  • Take a shower rather than a bath.
  • Close a running tap while brushing teeth or shaving.
  • Regularly check toilets and taps for leaks.
