The City of Tshwane is excited to announce the launch of its new Open Data Portal (https://opendata.tshwane.gov.za), an initiative aimed at promoting data access and transparency.
This innovative platform empowers residents, visitors, investors, students and researchers by providing them with credible data and information to make informed decisions.
With this launch, the City of Tshwane commits to providing a central repository where users can find valuable data related to the City. This initiative reflects the City’s core values of transparency, innovation and accountability by making important data publicly available.
The purpose of this data democratisation effort is to ensure that users can access the information they need from the comfort of their homes, regardless of their data literacy levels, and beyond traditional office hours. The platform’s interactive features also enable data collaboration and sharing among various stakeholders, including strategic partners and contributors from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), Statistics South Africa and the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs National Strategic Hub.
The City plans to continuously expand the data offerings on the portal. Feedback from users and data requests are welcomed and can be sent to datahub@tshwane.gov.za.
