Igniting excellence: The City of Tshwane wins Public Sector Innovation League Award

It is with great pleasure to announce that the City of Tshwane has won the Innovation League Award in the Public Sector category.

The City was invited to participate in the 2021/2022 South African Innovation League Awards and it faced tight competition against strong contenders, such as the University of Pretoria, Road Accident Fund (RAF) and many others.

The South African Innovation League programme is powered by Innocentrix, a reputable innovation management company in South Africa. The award programme is now in its eighth year and it aims to recognise organisations that are adapting to modern times using innovation to push their desired outcomes and, in the case of the City, that is improved service delivery.

The City of Tshwane won the Public Sector category by presenting its various innovation projects and programmes that are driven by the City’s Innovation Strategy.

Winning this award speaks to our work and commitment to the theme of this year’s State of the Capital Address: Building a data-driven City to fast-track service delivery. This recognition by the South African Innovation League also serves as a strong indication that there is space to use data, research and analytics in local government to improve service delivery by using opportunities provided by new technology and data solutions.
