Cllr Peggy de Bruin
MMC for Social Development and Community Services
The City of Tshwane, through its Youth Development Unit, is excited to host a career expo that will take place from 21 to 24 February 2023.
The expo, which is targeted at matriculants, jobseekers, apprentices, students and graduates, will be taken to at least four of Tshwane’s townships, namely Hammanskraal, Mabopane, Soshanguve and Atteridgeville. Other townships and suburbs will follow later.
Top amongst the list of stakeholders is the Departments of Basic and Higher Education, the Gauteng Provincial Government, Nzalo Careers as well as the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA).
The main objective of the expo is to allow the above-mentioned institutions, including the City of Tshwane, to present career opportunities, bursaries, learnerships and apprenticeships. Learners will also be guided on how to overcome barriers to admission at institutions of higher learning, how to apply for financial aid and how to launch or start a business.
I therefore encourage the youth to attend the expo in their respective areas as follows:
Regions | Area | Venue | Date |
2 | Hammanskraal | Mandela Community Hall | 21 February 2023 |
1 | Mabopane | Mabopane Indoor Sport Centre | 22 February 2023 |
1 | Soshanguve | Falala Community Hall | 23 February 2023 |
3 | Atteridgeville | Mbolekwa Community Hall | 24 February 2023 |
