As the MMC for Community Safety, I recently attended a meeting with various role-players from within the City of Tshwane who are interested in establishing an Internal Municipal Service District (IMSD), also known as a City Improvement District (CID).
These endeavours represent a significant step forward in our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our residents and making our city safer and more vibrant.
The creation of IMSDs brings with it the promise of tailored, specialized services that cater to the unique needs of specific areas within our municipality. This proactive approach to addressing the distinct challenges and opportunities in various areas is a testament to our dedication to creating more liveable, secure, and inclusive urban environments.
By collaborating with stakeholders who share a deep interest in the well-being of our city, we are not only fostering a sense of community but also taking practical steps to ensure that every corner of Tshwane thrives. The engagement of residents, businesses, and property owners in shaping the direction of these districts is essential, as it reflects a collective commitment to building a better future. I encourage active participation, open dialogue, and collaboration among all stakeholders as we move forward with these IMSDs. It is through these collective efforts that we can truly harness the potential and ensure that the services these areas receive are not only effective but responsive to the needs of our residents.
In conclusion, I extend my gratitude to the organizers, supporters, and all those who have come forward to champion the cause of IMSDs in Tshwane. Together, we can create a safer, more vibrant, and better-connected city that we can all be proud to call home. We also hope to introduce a voluntary and less formal policy model soon with the goal of increasing cooperation between the City and residential areas specifically.
