Emergency repairs at Refilwe Pump Station

The City of Tshwane Bulk Water Supply Section is conducting emergency repairs on Refilwe Pump Station following vandalism to the power supply infrastructure, which resulted in damage to the control components. The damages have unfortunately led to an unplanned water supply interruption to customers who are supplied by Refilwe Tower.

The following areas are affected:

  • Doornkraal 420-JR
  • Englefield 474-JR
  • Refilwe
  • Refilwe Ext 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7
  • Refilwe Manor

The City of Tshwane apologises for the inconvenience this unplanned interruption has caused. Water tankers have been arranged to service customers in the affected areas.

During this period, the City wishes to remind residents to adhere to the following water-conservation measures:

  • Do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00.
  • Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes.
  • Do not fill swimming pools.
  • Install a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible.
  • Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.
  • Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in the garden.
  • Use a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios.
  • Collect rainwater to reuse in the garden or wash the car.
  • Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation.
  • Take a short shower rather than a bath.
  • Close a running tap while brushing teeth or shaving.
  • Regularly check toilets and taps for leaks.
