Unplanned water supply interruption affecting Mamelodi and Eersterust

The team of plumbers of the City of Tshwane Water and Sanitation Department is attending to an emergency leak on the water supply line to the Mamelodi R1 and Eersterust Reservoirs. The leak has forced the team to abruptly cut the water supply to the areas that are supplied by the above-mentioned reservoirs in order to effect the repairs.

 The following areas are affected:

  • Derdepoort 326-JR
  • Derdepoortpark Ext 2
  • Despatch
  • Eersterust
  • Eersterust Ext 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6
  • Hartebeespoort 328-JR

  • Mamelodi Ext 13, 27 and 34
  • Silvertondale

The City of Tshwane apologises for the inconvenience this unplanned interruption has caused. Water tankers have been arranged to service customers in the affected areas.

During this period, the City wishes to remind residents to adhere to the following water-conservation measures:

  • Do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00.
  • Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes.
  • Do not fill swimming pools.
  • Install a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible.
  • Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.
  • Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in the garden.
  • Use a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios.
  • Collect rainwater to reuse in the garden or wash the car.
  • Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation.
  • Take a short shower rather than a bath.
  • Close a running tap while brushing teeth or shaving.
  • Regularly check toilets and taps for leaks.
